The No. 40 Key Motorsports Chevrolet piloted by Mike Bliss will have a birthday message for team owner Curtis Key's mother at Montreal this weekend as Geneva Key celebrates her 75th birthday on Sunday, August 29, 2010.
“Happy 75th Birthday Mom!” appears on the hood and rear quarterpanels for the NAPA 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve Sunday afternoon.
“This is a special day for Mom as well as our extended family at Key Motorsports,” said Curtis Key. “We are happy to be celebrating Mom’s 75th birthday in Montreal on Sunday, for someone to be around three quarters of a century says a lot. Mom loves racing and goes to every race she is able to, she helps the team when she can and is our #1 fan. Every member of our team wishes her a Happy Birthday and hopes she enjoys her special day.”
Bliss is seeking to continue a streak of top-20 finishes for the Key Motorsports team that started at Daytona in July. With a 17th at Bristol last weekend, Bliss has taken No. 40 to a top-20 finish for eight consecutive weeks. The team posted a 14th at Watkins Glen International earlier this month.
“We are looking for results in Montreal,” said Bliss. “Gary (Showalter, crew chief) and the crew have worked hard in the shop preparing this car, it ran well at Watkins Glen a few weeks ago and we are expecting good things from it this weekend. Curtis Key has provided the equipment we need each week, he and Gary and everyone involved are all working together and that’s what it takes. I would like to join with the Key Motorsports team in wishing Mom a Happy 75th Birthday, we are thinking about her and hope she has a great day on Sunday.”
Jeffrey Earnhardt finished 31st in the 2009 NAPA 200 behind the wheel of the Key Motorsports Chevrolet after changing a transmission during the race.
