Showdown At Bristol Packed With NASCAR Legends
Written by Lindsey Marks

dave-marcisThe Scotts EZ Seed Showdown, scheduled for March 20th at Bristol Motor Speedway, is a 35-lap race featuring 12 legends of NASCAR.

Four more drivers have recently been added to the roster: Dave Marcis, Jimmy Hensley, Tommy Houston and Phil Parsons. Cale Yarborough, Jack Ingram, Charlie Glotzbach and L.D. Ottinger were the first participants to be named last August and the final four drivers are still unknown.

Marcis, in his trademark wing-tipped shoes, will make his first appearance at the event, as will Houston and Hensley. Parsons participated in last year’s race.

Marcis already has his eyes on the prize.

‘’It would be fantastic (to win). I’m sure it is what each of us wants to do. If we didn’t we shouldn’t be in the race,” he said. “I’m going to work hard at it and try to stay out of trouble. I’m going to find a good groove and hopefully do well.”

Houston is also looking forward to getting back behind the wheel.phil-parsons

“I’m going to race hard,” he said. “I’m in good health. I started a truck race in 2000. I had been out of it four or five years. When I started, it was like I raced last weekend.”

The action packed weekend at Bristol, which includes the Showdown as well as the regular NASCAR events, is a must-see for hardcore race fans. A special 3-day ticket package is available for only $99 which includes access to Ford Fan Friday qualifying on the 19th, the NASCAR Nationwide Series Scotts Turf Builder 300 and the Scotts EZ Seed Showdown on Saturday the 20th and finally the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Food City 500 on Sunday.

For more information or to purchase tickets call the track at 423-BRISTOL (274-4765) or go to the track’s website at www.bristoltix.com.
