Hardcore race fans who visit the “Track Too Tough To Tame” have spoken and The Lady In Black has answered.
After learning that fans were unhappy with the amount of money they had to spend on accommodations for race weekends, the track has announced a partnership with local hotels called Race Rates For Race Fans.
"One of the things we heard from our fans following the 2009 Southern 500 was that the travel costs to get to the event really added up," Darlington Raceway President Chris Browning said. "After hearing that, we reached out to our local hotel vendors and had a great response from them about our Race Rates for Race Fans program. We are extremely pleased that these hotels see the value of Darlington Raceway fans to the local community and appreciate their business as much as we do." Five hotels owned by Roldex are involved in the partnership, including the Hilton Garden Inn in Florence, SC, as well as the Days Inn and Ramada Inn at Young’s Plantation in Florence, the Hampton Inn & Suites Oceanfront in Myrtle Beach and many others. The track is continuing to add more hotels so the list will continue to be updated. "We are very excited about the opportunity to help race fans attend the 2010 Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway,” Mike Alexander, General Manager of the Raldex owned Hilton Garden Inn in Florence said."Darlington Raceway is one of the top tourist destinations in our area, and generates a tremendous economic impact. We look forward to making the Southern 500 one of the most economical races for fans to attend." Tickets to the scheduled events at Darlington and a complete list of the participating hotels can be found on the track’s website at www.DarlingtonRaceway.com or by calling the track at 1-866-459-RACE.
