Sunday, 31 January 2010 00:00

daytona-international-speedwayAt this weekend’s Rolex 24 At Daytona GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series season opener, hardcore race fans will get to see Daytona International Speedway’s new hardware; a 22-foot tall flagstand that features a 22.5 foot-wide full LED display which will show race information, videos and animations.

There is approximately 60 square feet of room in the flagstand for the flagman and starter. Plus, in addition to the LED display, there are light tubes that will flash green, yellow or red giving the drivers and fans better visibility of changes in the race status.

Robin Braig, President of Daytona International Speedway, christened the new flag alongside four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson and GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series champion Alex Gurney this week.

Tickets for Daytona events are available via the track’s website at www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com.
