Kevin Harvick missed Thursday's practice session at the Daytona International Speedway for the Budweiser Shootout due to flu-like symptoms, according to Richard Childress Racing. The veteran NASCAR driver has been battling the illness at his North Carolina home and was expected to arrive in Daytona last night or this morning.
Harvick is automatically qualified for Saturday nights Shootout as a result of winning the 2007, according to the new NASCAR guidelines.
RCR teammate Clint Bowyer practiced the #29 Chevrolet for Harvick and was involved in a multi-car accident 20 minutes into the first practice session of the day. The team will be forced to a back-up car for the Budweiser Shootout. MORE NASCAR NEWS
