The 2013 NASCAR season is now upon us as the Sprint Unlimited race will get the wheels turning on a new season of racing. For those who may be confused, this race is essentially the Bud Shootout, just under a new name.
The ARCA racing series will be joining the Sprint Cup drivers for what should be an exciting start to the 2013 racing season.
This year fans get to vote on pretty much everything about the race, the length of each segment, whether teams can pit after the first segment and if so if it will be a two or four tire pit stop. They can also vote to eliminate drivers from the race.
The ARCA Series kicks things off with a four-hour practice on Thursday beginning at 1:00 p.m. prior to qualifying on Friday at 2:00p.m. A 45-minute Sprint Cup practice session for the Sprint Unlimited follows at 5:00 p.m. with the drawing for the pit selection taking place at 6:00 p.m. Final practice is set for 6:30 p.m. Both can be seen live on SPEED.
Saturday begins with two Daytona 500 practice sessions, at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. respectively, as teams prepare their cars for Daytona 500 qualifying. The ARCA Series takes center stage at 4:30 p.m. with the running of the Lucas Oil 200. Driver introductions begin at 4:00 p.m. Tune to SPEED for live coverage of the day’s activities.
Saturday night's Sprint Unlimited marks the unofficial start to the 2013 Sprint Cup season with live coverage on FOX at 8:00 p.m. Driver introductions start at 7:50 p.m.
Qualifying for the 2013 Daytona 500 gets under way at 1:05 p.m. with live coverage on FOX. Sunday’s Sprint Cup qualifying session will lock in the front row for the 500 and determine the starting order for Thursday’s Gatorade Duels.
All times are eastern.
