NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series heads west to Kansas Speedway where race number eight of the 2013 schedule unfolds Sunday afternoon. Camping World Truck Series teams run a 250-miler on Saturday while Nationwide drivers have a break this weekend.
Denny Hamlin crossed the finish line first at Kansas last April. Out of the seat until his back heals, Brian Vickers will pilot the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Toyota on Sunday. James Buescher is the defending Truck Series race winner.
Jimmie Johnson leads Kyle Busch by 18 markers in the 2013 Sprint Cup standings with seven race complete while Johnny Sauter holds a 16-point margin over Jeb Burton in the battle for the Truck Series championship.
On track action begins Friday at 10:00 a.m. with Truck Series practice followed by Sprint Cup Series practice at 1:00 p.m. Final practice for the trucks begins at 3:00 p.m. then Sprint Cup Series qualifying at 4:40 p.m. All can be seen live on SPEED.
Saturday opens with Sprint Cup Series practice at 10:00 a.m. and Truck Series qualifying at 11:05 a.m. Sprint Cup Happy Hour follows at 12:30 p.m. The SFP 250 Truck Series race is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start with live coverage beginning at 1:30 p.m. with The Setup. Watch all of Saturday’s activities live on SPEED.
Sunday’s STP 400 will be live on FOX at 12:30 p.m. with the NASCAR on FOX Pre-race Show. Race time is 1:00 p.m.
