Last weekend at Phoenix International Raceway, Kevin Harvick took the checkered flag in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race and did a side-by-side burnout with his driver Ron Hornaday who earned the Series championship at the end of that race.
Harvick won his second consecutive race in the Ford 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway and secured the owner’s championship for his team.
“That’s the way to put an end to a year right there,” Harvick said as he crossed the stripe for the victory. He took the lead after a late caution forced a green-white-checkered finish. After the green flew for the final time Harvick went low under race leader Timothy Peters and took the top spot. He held it for the final lap and a half to take the checkers. Matt Crafton also took advantage of the late caution and managed to go three wide inside Peters and Colin Braun to end the final race of the season in 2nd place. He also finished 2nd in the series point standings to Hornaday. Colin Braun got past Peters for 3rd and Peters finished 4th in front of Todd Bodine. Mike Skinner, David Starr, Hornaday, Johnny Sauter and T.J. Bell completed the top-10. The Kevin Harvick Inc. teams certainly had a lot to celebrate after the race as Harvick enjoyed the race victory splendors and Hornday received the championship trophy and a new motor home courtesy of Camping World. The team has created a lot of momentum that will spill over into next season when the Truck Series heads to Daytona in February. MORE NASCAR NEWS
