Written by Andrew McClellan

north-wilkesboro-speedwayNorth Wilkesboro Speedway officials are expected to make a major announcement "in the next day or two" concerning naming rights of the historic track located in Wilkes County, North Carolina, sources close to the situation told HardcoreRaceFans.com earlier today.

While not confirmed, it is highly speculated that Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company will hold naming rights to the speedway with the new name being North Wilkesboro Speedway Presented by Goodyear.

The 5/8 mile facility became a favorite of hardcore race fans, holding many great NASCAR races over the years before being sold to Bob Bahre and Bruton Smith who closed the track in 1996 and moved the dates to other venues.

Reopening of the North Wilkesboro Speedway was announced last Novemember and track personnel are busily preparing for the 2010 season which will feature (PASS) Pro All Star Series Super Late Models, USA Racing Pro Cup Series and ASA Late Model Series events.
