Gifford Ready For 2010 In East Series

ryan-giffordRyan Gifford, a 20-year-old driver from Tennessee, is excited for the 2010 season to start.

After making his NASCAR K&N Pro Series, formerly the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, debut last year and running a limited schedule, he will run the full season in 2010 as part of Richard Childress Racing’s development program. However, details on his season are still in the works.

“We’re going to be racing in the East Series for a different team, under the RCR umbrella but can’t really say what all we’re doing right now,” he said. “It’s going to be really cool. I’m really optimistic about this year.”

Gifford got a taste of success last year and he’s ready to step up his game even farther in 2010.

“I want to win the East Series championship or at least win Rookie of the Year. We’re going to run for Rookie of the Year and I’ve got a really good shot at winning some races. Last year I ran five races and done really well. Had two second place finishes so I’ve got a really good shot at winning races and running top-five every race.”

Having the backing of RCR has been a great opportunity for the Gifford and spending time with the other young drivers has been beneficial.

“I’ve been part of the development program for two years now and I’ve got to race with Ty (Dillon) and Austin (Dillon). They’re like my brothers.”

With his sights set on both Rookie of the Year honors and the championship, Gifford will be a driver to watch in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series.
