This year the 2010 ARCA Racing Series Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at the famous Daytona International Speedway will be watched very carefully to see how one person performs, Danica Patrick. Her debut in a stockcar takes place during the ARCA race amongst the best up and coming, and veteran drivers in the world. It’s a big hit for the stockcar world and is making the sport even more widely known with the most famous female driver taking the leap into NASCAR.
Depending on how she performs and how comfortable she feels after the ARCA Racing Series Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200, it will be determined if she takes a step up to the NASCAR Nationwide Series for the Camping World 300. "We want to give Danica the best opportunity to compete at Daytona, and that includes making sure she is 100 percent comfortable in that driver's seat," Kelley Earnhardt said.
Patrick will be driving for the successful JR Motorsports in the No. 7 GoDaddy.com sponsored Chevrolet for a 12 race, possible 13 race schedule. After Daytona her NASCAR schedule picks up for two races, then takes a break for her IndyCar Series endeavor. "I'm thrilled to announce our 2010 Nationwide Series schedule," said Patrick. "Like I've said before, we just want to be smart and calculative about this process. The tracks we've selected not only compliment the IndyCar schedule, but will give me quality seat time at a variety of facilities." After the Daytona weekend Patrick will make a start at Auto Club Speedway on February 20th and continue on to the February 27th race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Her NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule takes a break for a four month period then picks right back up for the June 26th race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the NASCAR Nationwide Series New England 200. She will then finish the season with scheduled NASCAR Nationwide Series races at Chicagoland Speedway on July 9th, Michigan International Speedway taking place on August 14th. From Michigan she will race at Dover International Speedway (September 25th), Auto Club Speedway (October 9th), Charlotte Motor Speedway (October 15th), Gateway International Raceway (October 23rd), Texas Motor Speedway (November 6th), Phoenix International Raceway (November 13th), and finishing the season at Homestead-Miami Speedway (November 20th).
